The Rocketeers

US FIRST Robotics Team20 Shenendehowa Team 20, US FIRST Robotics Team20 Shenendehowa Team 20, The Rocketeers is a founding team of the US FIRST Robotics program. FIRST, "For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology" is an engineering competition founded by Inventor Extraordinaire Dean Kaman. The Rocketeers is a well established group of students, engineers, teachers, and parents that have enjoyed a history of success at both the regional and national level. We are dedicated to promoting the FIRST mission: “to change the way young people regard science and technology and to inspire an appreciation for real-life rewards and career opportunities in these fields.” It is not just about building a Robot; team activities include publicity, fund raising, media arts, web design, animation, field construction, and programming.

Wednesday November 19 3:30 - 7:00PM. LRIG, robotics trade show

LRIG, a local robotics promotion organization and supporter of Team 20 is hosting a robotics trade show at the Desmond on November 19 from 3:30 to 7:00. We will need a small group of students and mentors to represent the team.

LRIG will also be hosting another controller workshop on December 19. Please sign up tonight if interested.

Thursday October 2. First meeting of the Fall season, Technology Rooms of High School East, 7:00 PM.

This meeting is for ALL parents and students.

This is a meeting for all returning mentors and adults and college students interested in mentoring this year

We will have a table describing the team and signing up new members.

Team 20 Night Player's Park, Route 146a, Clifton Park, NY.

This is a fund raiser and an opportunity to sign up new members We will have robots, students will describe the program, we will eat french fries and play a round or two of golf.

August 5, 2008 National Night Out Against Crime

We are invited to demonstrate our robot at the National Night Out Against Crime.  The event will take place Tuesday August 5 from 6:00--8:00 PM. Please come,bring your enthusiasm, wear your shirt.  This is a great community connection event.  It will be hosted by FOX 23's Rich Becker.

July 15, 2008 Plug Power Fund Raising Picnic

On Tuesday July 15 we will be at Plug Power working on a Fund Raising Picnic.

Thank you to all that have volunteered to be there to represent the team and help in this endevour.  The relationship between Team 20 and Plug Power is important in many ways.  We are grateful to their willingness to hold this picnic on our behalf.

July 2, 2008 Mini Golf Fundraiser 4:00pm-8:00PM

Players Park Mini Golf Adjacent to Eagle Crest Golf Course.

Please invite friends you would like to join the team.  This is a great opportunity for them to see how much fun we have as a team.  I will take down their contact information and include them on our emails and meetings.   I have had some questions regarding the times, no you do not have to stay at the golf course for the whole four hours.  It would be good to have some team members throughout the evening. Please spread the word.  This will be alot of fun. See you Wednesday

May 27 , 2008 Presentation to the Shenendehowa School Board

We are invited to give a presentation to the Shenendehowa School Board on Tuesday Evening May 27. The meeting will take place in the Gowana library and the robot will be demonstrated in the cafeteria.  It is madatory that all attend.  Several students have expressed an interest in speaking and/or running the robot.  If you would like to be included--please let me know.  We will all wear our competition shirts and an enthusiastic smile.  We just need to figure out how to get the robots here--Hey Matt C. should we try your Kenny connection?
